We have a long driveway that winds from the main road down to our farmhouse. Along the way, we often encounter deer in the field and squirrels on the walnut trees. At night, racoons and the occasional skunks are out and about.
This afternoon it was a rafter of turkeys.
There were six of them on the far side of the fence, and one straggler walking down the middle of the road.
She could have moseyed off to the side and gotten out of the way, but NO! this dumb cluck (literally!) proceeded to run down the middle of the road in front of our car.
As we rounded the corner, she must have caught a glimpse of the car from the corner of her eye because all of a suddenly she took off in a flutter of wings and feet. She gave a couple of big flaps of her wings and flew right over the fence before racing off into the woods with her friends.
You never quite know what you’re going to get on the farm.
Gobble gobble!
